Welcome to the Indian Heritage Cities Network

The Indian Heritage Cities Network provides a platform for sharing experience and expertise for the sustainable socioeconomic and cultural development of India’s historic cities. The Network was founded in September 2006 at an international conference held in Jaipur, with the endorsement of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. It now comprises 25 Indian member cities, seven French cities and regional partners, several university and institutional members and a number of NGO partners. Many more Indian and European cities, regions and universities have expressed an interest in joining.

This website aims to create a medium for exchanging information, showcasing best practices, highlighting events, presenting different viewpoints, offering new ideas and discussing the problems and challenges related to the preservation, management and sustainable use of urban heritage.

This website is a work in progress, and additional pages will be added on an ongoing basis.
