Indian Heritage Cities Network
Welcome to the Indian Heritage Cities Network
The Indian Heritage Cities Network provides a platform for sharing experience and expertise for the sustainable socioeconomic and cultural development of India’s historic cities. The Network was founded in September 2006 at an international conference held in Jaipur, with the endorsement of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. It now comprises 32 Indian member cities, Nine French cities and regional partners, several university and institutional members and a number of NGO partners. Many more Indian and European cities, regions and universities have expressed an interest in joining.
This website aims to create a medium for exchanging information, showcasing best practices, highlighting events, presenting different viewpoints, offering new ideas and discussing the problems and challenges related to the preservation, management and sustainable use of urban heritage.
This website is a work in progress, and additional pages will be added on an ongoing basis. MOU with Government of Karnataka
The Government of Karnataka vide G.O. no UDD 38 CSS 2011, Bangalore dated 2 May 2011, took the decision to facilitate the shifting of IHCN Secretariat to the member city of Mysore and now the sam has been shifted to member city of Bangalore. A host agreement with the Government of Karnataka is for a period of 3 years, which has been extended till 2015.
